M1J14 THAI BOXING

Muay Thai is the national sport of Thailand and an international treasure of the Martial Arts community.

Also known as the “Art of Eight Limbs” or “Science of Eight Limbs,” Muay Thai is designed to use all parts of the body for attack (2 fists, 2 elbows, 2 knees, and 2 feet) as well as clinching or grappling, as opposed to other styles such as boxing which only utilizes the fists.

Any and all skill levels from pure beginner to advanced are welcome to the club. Whether you would like to come for just the workout, develop a strong striking style, or simply learn for the sake of picking up a new skill, the M1 J14  Academy

Thai Boxing serves as both a great workout and an applicable means of self-defence. Within our club, we learn, practice, and perfect technique, condition ourselves to make our bodies strong and fast, and apply what we learn in sparring.

One of the most widely practiced striking styles, Thai Boxing is unofficially the most utilized striking style by professional UFC fighters.

Our Background 1984 to the present day

Our Muaythai  programme focuses on developing, cementing, and refining students’ basic thaiboxing fundamentals. Ebe started training in Thai Boxing in 1984 after being introduced to it by Pan the son of Master Boonriang .He was at the founding of the IAMTF and the UKMTF in the UK

In 1986, he formed a  small group Muay Thai group in central London  (Westminister University ) and continues to train people of all ages and abilities to this day.

On visiting Thailand to further his knowledge he trained at various prestigious gyms ,on returning he competed in Muay Thai events organised by Master Boonriang such as the one in Porchester Hall 1987  where he and his team took away a team trophy

For the last 30 years  he has  maintained his own training by regularly attending workshops and seminars including training at the world famous Muay Thai gym Fairtex in San Fransisco

Students will learn how to weave these techniques into easy, but solid combinations. Also, the conditioning exercises build up the foundation of cardiovascular fitness and strength needed for Muaythai practice.

A typical workout consists of calisthenics, stretching, 2-3 rounds (2 minutes each) of Thai

pad work and/or technical drills
